When I was younger, I wasn't totally obsessed with Animaniacs or anything. I did manage to see (repeatedly) the episode where everything got flushed down the toilet (i.e."Keys go down the hooolllle.") I believe it was the baby Daffy Duck character, but don't quote me on that.
Mason has become totally aware of things going "down the hole". Whether it be his drink sucking back through the straw into the cup, his beloved bubbles draining out of the bathtub, or (as seen above) the "arbles" in the maze-like thingy at Grandma's, it must go down. Gravity said so before. Now, more importantly, Mason says so.
